Position Overview
The Technical Data Analyst will play a crucial role in identifying and cataloging enterprise data sources throughout the organization, collaborating closely with application teams and subject matter experts to collect comprehensive technical and data-related information. This position supports the enterprise data platform design by verifying data source details, outlining integration and data quality needs, and assisting with prioritization of data projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and maintain an inventory of enterprise-wide data sources.
- Work alongside application owners and experts to define technical and business data requirements.
- Detail documentation of source systems, technologies involved, interface methods, and data ownership.
- Analyze and record data specifics such as volume, update frequencies, retention policies, and growth patterns.
- Determine and describe data ingestion approaches, change data capture capabilities, and system interdependencies.
- Evaluate and document existing data quality concerns.
- Keep the enterprise data source inventory current and accurate.
- Confirm gathered information with data architects and engineering teams for accuracy and completeness.
- Develop technical documents and contribute to workshops oriented around data platform planning and prioritization.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in data analysis, data management, or related technical business analysis roles.
- Proficient in SQL, with strong knowledge of relational databases and integration methodologies.
- Acquainted with API utilization, file-based data integration, and messaging systems.
- Experience with tools including Excel, Confluence, Jira, and platforms for data cataloging.
- Background in banking or financial services is preferred but not mandatory.
