Role Overview

The Technical Data Lead plays a pivotal hands-on leadership role overseeing both current and future data platforms. This position is responsible for ensuring that legacy data logic is properly interpreted, that implementations align with architectural guidelines, and that migration results are accurate and thoroughly validated.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for technical delivery involving ETL processes, data modeling, business intelligence, data quality, and migration efforts.
• Evaluate existing pipelines, reports, data models, stored procedures, master data management workflows, and dependencies within platforms.
• Convert architectural decisions into concrete technical tasks for implementation.
• Mentor and guide ETL Developers, BI Developers, and Data Modelers during migration and delivery phases.
• Ensure that relevant legacy business logic is properly incorporated into target architectures.
• Identify chances to streamline, simplify, or phase out outdated logic.
• Examine source-to-target data mappings, technical designs, codebases, data pipelines, and validation outputs.
• Maintain adherence to naming conventions, development standards, data lineage requirements, and deployment protocols.
• Collaborate with Data Architects on design choices and manage exceptions.
• Assist in troubleshooting issues across both current and target data environments.
• Oversee safe and verified decommissioning of obsolete systems.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Hands-on expertise with enterprise data platforms covering ETL, data warehouses, BI systems, and data migration projects.
• Proficiency in SQL and strong capabilities in data analysis.
• Experience working with enterprise tools such as Informatica, Oracle, DataStage, SSIS, Power BI, Master Data Management solutions, and Data Quality tools.
• Familiarity with modern target technologies including dbt, Spark, Databricks, Fabric, Snowflake, or other cloud-based data platforms is advantageous.
• Thorough understanding of source-to-target mapping, reconciliation processes, data quality assurance, and migration validations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and efficiently resolve complex data-related challenges.
