Job description

Opportunity

Stantec is expanding its planning group and is looking for a Town Planner to help deliver a varied portfolio of work across development management, infrastructure, environmental planning and strategic planning. The role will involve supporting projects in the Water and Energy sectors, including the preparation of planning applications, planning strategies and stakeholder engagement activities, while working with teams drawn from different disciplines.

This position offers a chance to build your career with a global consultancy and contribute to sustainable development and essential infrastructure projects across Ireland.

Role overview

In this role, you will contribute to planning projects across Ireland, with a strong emphasis on infrastructure, environmental and development planning. You will prepare planning applications, reports and planning strategies, and provide planning guidance to clients and multidisciplinary teams.

You will work alongside planning authorities, clients and other stakeholders on projects linked to the Water and Energy sectors as well as broader development and strategic planning assignments. The role also includes project delivery support, stakeholder engagement and business development activity, all within a collaborative environment that supports technical and professional growth.

Impact of the role

Your work will help support the sustainable growth of communities and critical infrastructure throughout Ireland. By contributing to planning applications, infrastructure projects and strategic planning work, you will help move projects efficiently through the planning process.

Working with multidisciplinary teams, you will assist with projects in the Water and Energy sectors, engage with planning authorities and key stakeholders, and help shape planning outcomes that consider environmental, social and economic factors. Your contribution will support infrastructure and development projects that deliver long-term value for communities, clients and the environment.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate is an experienced planning professional with 3 to 7 years of background in town planning, environmental planning, infrastructure planning or a similar field. You should have a solid grasp of Irish planning law and policy, along with hands-on experience preparing planning applications, reports and supporting documents. Comfort working in multidisciplinary teams and dealing with clients, planning authorities and stakeholders is essential.
