Role overview
As a Traffic Marshall, you will play a key part in keeping van movement safe and organized within the station area, both indoors and outdoors. The position supports smooth warehouse traffic, driver coordination, package checks, and day-to-day safety compliance.
Key duties
- Direct and oversee vans moving around the station premises, including warehouse interiors and exterior areas.
- Make sure traffic rules and safety standards are followed, including speed controls and pedestrian separation.
- Position vans in the correct warehouse bays after check-in.
- Help operations staff with driver sign-in and sign-out activities.
- Review required paperwork such as delivery sheets and van condition records.
- Assist with van audits by checking loaded and unloaded parcels for any differences or issues.
- Help find missing or misplaced packages in vans or staging zones.
- Adjust priorities based on operational needs, such as resolving van-flow delays.
- Escalate safety concerns, vehicle damage, or unresolved package matters to the supervisor.
- Work closely with warehouse colleagues and drivers to keep processes running efficiently.
- Maintain Health & Safety compliance and contribute to a safe, hazard-free workplace.
- Promote safe work practices and responsible behavior across the team.
- Carry out safety audits and warehouse inspections.
- Respond to emergency situations when required.
- Unload trailers when necessary.
- Assist in overseeing the sorting of packages.
- Perform general cleaning and housekeeping tasks.
- Complete any other related duties assigned.
