Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and timely execution of shunting operations at mechanical signal boxes in Eilenburg, Falkenberg/Elster, Leipzig, Torgau, or Zeitz marshalling yards.
- Set up complete routes for train movements, including switches, tracks, and signals, to guarantee safe departures.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues at adjacent signal boxes, train drivers, and control centers.
- Handle the issuance, submission, and transmission of operational messages and timetable information.
- Monitor and inspect railway tracks and implement track closures during disruptions.
Requirements
- Possess existing qualifications and extensive experience as a Switchman with strong knowledge of mechanical signal box technology, or demonstrate a willingness to acquire these skills.
- Exhibit a high degree of responsibility, reliability, and the ability to act competently and professionally under pressure, along with punctuality.
- Must be medically fit for duty as a Switchman.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
