Role overview
The Yard Technician position is focused on keeping the branch yard and facilities neat, professional, and well organized. The job centers on handling equipment, supporting day-to-day yard operations, and helping customers and drivers with smooth equipment movement and accurate paperwork. This is also positioned as a growth-oriented role that can lead to opportunities such as Driver, Mechanic, ProSales Associate, and Sales and Operations Coordinator.
What you will do
- Assist with loading and unloading for internal truck drivers, outside haulers, and customers.
- Check delivery tickets and return documents to confirm they are correct.
- Wash, maintain, and arrange heavy equipment, construction equipment, and other machinery.
- Review outgoing orders and stage equipment for drivers.
- Carry out basic inspections to make sure rental equipment is safe and functioning properly.
- Keep the yard and work area clean, orderly, and presentable.
- Respond to customer questions and help resolve issues.
- Guide customers on choosing, using, and maintaining different types of equipment.
- Support teammates as needed.
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving history.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently in a safe manner.
- Willingness and ability to work both indoors and outdoors when the role requires it.
Skills
The role calls for strong customer communication, basic computer data entry, physical stamina, safe vehicle and equipment operation, and the ability to follow routines carefully. Comfort with reading and writing English, using Microsoft Word and Excel, and handling repetitive physical movements is also important.
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this role is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour. Final compensation may vary at the company’s discretion based on qualifications, experience, location, and overall role fit.
