Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Learn and perform electrical installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair techniques.
- Assist qualified electricians with scheduled and emergency maintenance in our housing properties.
- Adhere strictly to electrical regulations and health and safety standards to ensure safety at work.
- Develop diagnostic and fault-finding skills relevant to electrical systems.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work vehicles responsibly.
- Complete required college coursework and apprenticeship assessments through Places for People (Thrive Training Academy), attending Derby Academy one week per month, with travel and accommodation expenses covered. Applicants under 18 must obtain legal guardian consent due to training commitments away from home.
- Provide excellent customer service while working within residents' homes.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong interest and commitment towards qualifying as an electrician.
- Reliability, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn continually.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Commitment to completing the full apprenticeship programme.
- GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English at levels required for apprenticeship entry.

Additional Information & Terms
- This apprenticeship is offered on a fixed-term contract lasting 48 months for the apprenticeship duration.
- Starting salary is £15,392 in the first year; from the second year onward, pay aligns with the minimum wage appropriate for the apprentice's age, regardless of age.
- Annual leave entitlement begins at 27 days, increasing to 32 days after five years, plus bank holidays.
- Working hours total 37 hours per week with flexible arrangements to support a smart working culture and family-friendly policies.

- A full criminal background check is required before employment due to the vulnerable nature of the residents served.
