Position Overview
Excelitas Technologies Corp. is seeking a meticulous and technically skilled Assembly Technician based in Singapore to join their full-time production team. This role primarily involves assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and manufacturing sophisticated optical, optoelectronic, and laser products. The candidate will handle mechanical, electrical, electronic, fiber optic, and photonic components with precision, following strict quality and safety standards. The role includes shift work depending on production demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out assembly processes involving mechanical, electrical, optical, fiber optic, and optoelectronic components in line with engineering guidelines and work instructions.
- Execute Fiber Loop Assembly manufacturing and related activities.
- Perform fiber bonding, sealing, curing, and other manufacturing procedures using authorized materials and methods.
- Manage routing, looping, and handling of optical fibers and cables according to technical specifications and procedures.
- Conduct fiber preparation tasks such as stripping, cleaning, cleaving, polishing, and inspect fiber end-faces.
- Support precision tasks like optical alignment and fiber collimation during assembly.
- Assemble products and subassemblies carefully to maintain high craftsmanship standards.
- Operate vacuum and specialized manufacturing equipment safely and effectively.
- Carry out tests, inspections, problem diagnoses, and verification using prescribed methods.
- Utilize test and inspection tools to ensure products meet performance and quality criteria.
- Report and assist in resolving manufacturing or assembly issues, escalating as necessary to engineering teams.
- Maintain precise electronic production records and manufacturing documentation.
- Adhere to quality guidelines, work instructions, and process controls.
- Perform cleaning of components and assemblies, both bulk and precision.
- Prepare products for packaging and shipment in accordance with established protocols.
- Follow proper procedures for material handling, inventory management, and traceability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Participate in implementing corrective and preventive actions as required.
- Support new product launches, process transfers, and manufacturing development.
- Train and guide team members as per training requirements and instructions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, production, and other teams.
- Remain adaptable to changing production priorities and business needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of GCE 'N' Level, NITEC, Technical Certificate, Diploma, or an equivalent qualification in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Previous relevant technical education and practical experience in manufacturing is encouraged.
Preferred Expertise Areas
- Experience in Fiber Loop Assembly processes.
- Background in fiber optic manufacturing and assembly.
- Skills in fiber bonding, sealing, curing, and polishing techniques.
- Familiarity with optical alignment and fiber collimation methods.
- Knowledge of optoelectronics and electronics manufacturing.
- Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes.
- Experience with cable and harness assemblies.
- Proficiency in precision assembly and process-driven manufacturing settings.
- Exposure to photonics, laser, or optical product manufacturing.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, instructions, and technical documentation.
- Strong manual dexterity and detailed focus.
- Capability to use precision assembly and inspection tools.
- Experience or knowledge of cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments.
- Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Competency in maintaining accurate production records.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
