Business Systems Analyst - Data Analytics

Overview

This role of Business Systems Analyst focuses on data analytics and is a contract position based remotely in Canada. The analyst will partner with teams across Analytics, Operations, Data Management, and IT to capture strategic and tactical business needs and translate them into technology solutions that provide stability, usability, and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Conduct workshops with business stakeholders to storyboard, write user stories, and gather detailed requirements.
• Convert storyboarding materials into digital artifacts and contribute critical insights during technical design discussions.
• Maintain transparent communication on project progress, risks, and key metrics to both IT and business clients.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including IT project managers, architects, developers, and quality assurance specialists.
• Lead the business analysis lifecycle through solution design, development, and management of dependencies and risks.
• Create detailed documentation of current and future state business processes.
• Elicit and capture user stories, business requirements, business rules, and use cases.
• Plan, prepare, and manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phases including script creation and facilitating execution.
• Assist with deployment and support end-user rollout activities as necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years in comprehensive business analysis across end-to-end life cycle phases.
• Proven track record managing and successfully delivering complex, high-risk initiatives.
• Strong technical background in data warehouse modeling and business intelligence fundamentals.
• Advanced proficiency with data visualization and BI software tools including ETL, data integration, master data management, QlikView, and SAS.
• Self-motivated with a strong commitment to continuous personal development and proactive working style.
• Excellent time management skills, capable of multitasking within dynamic and fast-paced environments with adaptability and flexibility.

Education and Work Environment

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.
• Work is conducted in a professional, remote office setup using standard technology such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent, repetitive use of computer equipment including keyboard and mouse.
• Requires fine motor skills and finger dexterity for computer-related tasks.
