Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to manage and support highly available Microsoft SQL Server and MongoDB environments based in Singapore. This role is hands-on and centers on maintaining production database operations, emphasizing stability, incident recovery, performance optimization, disaster recovery preparedness, and implementing production changes safely.
The position entails close collaboration with infrastructure, systems, software, security, and compliance teams to uphold secured, high-availability systems where database reliability and data integrity are crucial for continuous service delivery. The role provides exposure to both relational and NoSQL databases, offering valuable experience in high availability, disaster recovery, incident management, and multi-layer troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Deliver level 2 and level 3 production support for MS SQL Server and MongoDB platforms.
- Diagnose and resolve database outages, failover complications, blocking incidents, deadlock situations, slow-performing queries, and storage-related performance issues.
- Administer MS SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and MongoDB replica sets.
- Continuously monitor replication processes, cluster health, failover preparedness, and overall database performance.
- Manage database backup routines including full, differential, and transaction-log backups.
- Execute database restoration tasks, point-in-time recovery, and verify recovery effectiveness.
- Review and approve database scripts prior to production deployment.
- Support application releases through data patching, seeding, and database migration activities.
- Perform scheduled SQL Server patching, cumulative updates, and necessary maintenance.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience in managing production database environments.
- Recent hands-on administration of MS SQL Server in a live production setting.
- Knowledge across critical MS SQL Server features including Always On Availability Groups, high availability and failover mechanisms, backup and recovery processes, performance tuning, execution plan evaluation, index optimization, and advanced troubleshooting of blocking and deadlocks.
- Experience in SQL Server patching and application of cumulative updates.
- Ability to manage critical Severity 1 or P1 level production incidents effectively.
- Familiarity with supporting database deployments, data modifications, and migrations.
