About the Role
Seed World Group is seeking an Editor for its Seed World U.S. publication, a digital-first leadership role shaping discourse within the U.S. seed industry. Reporting to the Managing Editor, the position offers remote work flexibility with occasional travel, and a full-time contract opportunity with compensation up to $75,000 depending on experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Establish and nurture meaningful, trustworthy relationships across the U.S. seed sector by engaging with key people and staying up-to-date on industry policies, research, and technological advancements.
- Identify emerging stories and industry issues and pursue them actively to inform content strategy.
- Define and direct editorial vision for Seed World U.S. across multiple platforms including digital, video, newsletters, social media, and print media.
- Create clear and compelling stories from complex subject matter; develop ongoing content series that retain audience interest.
- Research, write, edit, and produce original articles, interviews, analyses, and multimedia materials.
- Supervise and edit contributions from freelancers and other content providers.
- Develop a recognizable public profile as an authoritative voice within the seed industry, including hosting video interviews, webinars, podcasts, and live events.
- Represent Seed World at conferences and industry-related functions.
- Own the editorial mission, voice, and market positioning of Seed World U.S.
- Plan and execute content packaging and distribution strategies to effectively reach target audiences, leveraging engagement analytics to refine approach.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, digital teams, design, and leadership on campaigns and client-supported content programs.
- Identify partnership opportunities and manage editorial budgets and freelance resources responsibly.
- Utilize AI tools for efficient research and content production while maintaining editorial judgment, curiosity, and relationship-driven storytelling.
- Keep abreast of developments in digital publishing, content management systems, analytics, and video production technologies.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least five years of relevant experience in editorial work, communications, publishing, content strategy, or agricultural communications.
- Exceptional interviewing, writing, and editing skills.
- A strong, genuine interest in agriculture, with seed industry knowledge being a significant advantage.
- Confidence in front of a camera and when presenting to professional audiences.
- Natural aptitude for building trust and sustaining strong professional relationships.
- Excellent editorial judgment and storytelling acumen.
- Ability to manage multiple platforms, contributors, and deadlines successfully.
- Self-motivated, creative thinker capable of working independently to build and improve content initiatives.
- A relevant degree or equivalent mix of education and practical experience.
