Facility Management Caretaker

We are currently seeking a Facility Management Caretaker based in Letterkenny, County Donegal, to contribute to maintaining these vital community spaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness to high standards across communal areas following a cleaning schedule, identifying and reporting repair needs and hazards, arranging and monitoring repairs as required.
• Perform grounds maintenance including grass cutting, hedge pruning, planting, weed control, and minor horticultural tasks in communal zones.
• Carry out minor repairs as assigned and follow prescribed procedures for domestic waste removal, coordinating with refuse contractors to ensure proper disposal.
• Organize skip hire and bulk rubbish removal when necessary; oversee works done by service contractors and repair personnel.
• Conduct routine checks of lifts and phone entry systems, utilizing the onsite CAFM IT system via tablet or computer for work management.
• Assume security duties by opening and closing the school, setting security alarms, acting as a keyholder, and ensuring premises safety post-events.
• Perform weekly safety system inspections, including fire and intruder alarms; adhere to child safeguarding policies.
• Implement protective measures pre- and post-storm warnings; conduct regular health and safety inspections of communal areas, reporting or addressing any concerns promptly.
• Timely report any building or content issues to the line manager and notify about abandoned vehicles on site.

Qualifications and Skills

• At least two years of experience in a similar caretaker or facilities management role.
• Proficient in general DIY repairs and able to carry out physical tasks associated with the position.
• Competent in managing relationships with external agencies concerning deadlines, costs, and quality control.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize workloads effectively.
• Hold a valid full driving license and trained in manual handling techniques.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations and procedures.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals across various organizational levels.
• Works well within a team environment.
