The Human Resources Communications Coordinator is tasked with designing and implementing a thorough internal communications strategy for HR programs, initiatives, and priorities across all campuses of the University of Kansas.   • Create clear, engaging content in written, visual, and verbal formats tailored for diverse audiences including faculty, staff, and leadership.
  • Distribute HR communications via appropriate channels such as emails, newsletters, websites, intranet platforms, presentations, and campus news outlets.
  • Manage HR newsletters and coordinate content placement on platforms like KU Today and Campus Insider.
  • Act as liaison with the Office of Public Affairs and campus communication teams to ensure message consistency and alignment.
  • Maintain HR web and intranet content ensuring accuracy, accessibility, currency, and compliance with university and ADA standards.
  • Implement plain-language and inclusive communication techniques to enhance understanding and engagement.
  • Monitor communication effectiveness using metrics and adjust strategies accordingly.

Other Responsibilities

Perform additional duties as assigned, constituting approximately 5% of the role.

Position Requirements

  • This is an in-person position located at both Lawrence and Medical Center campuses with approved opportunities for remote work flexibility.
  • Required educational qualifications include either: a Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field plus 1 year of relevant experience; or an Associate’s degree with 3 years of experience; or a High School diploma/GED with 5 years of internal or organizational communications experience.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading abilities with a proven capacity to simplify complex information into employee-friendly language.
  • Experience managing web or intranet content.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital communication platforms.
