Role Overview
NewGround is hiring a full-time Junior Interior Designer to join a small, talented team in its Waterloo office. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative setting, can manage several tasks at once in a studio environment, and is comfortable working with colleagues across regional offices throughout North America. The position supports the development of branded interior spaces, particularly for financial institution clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Create interior drawings in Revit and/or AutoCAD for construction documentation.
- Support designers with finish selection and product research.
- Prepare finish boards and presentation drawings.
- Develop finish boxes and/or Finish and Furniture Guides for projects.
- Contribute content for client presentations, construction documents, and project manuals, and incorporate redline revisions as needed.
- Coordinate with A&E teams, environmental specialists, build teams, and consultants.
- Work with manufacturer representatives to arrange meetings.
- Keep the sample library organized and up to date.
- Handle other related duties as assigned or as they arise.
Skills and Working Style
The successful candidate should communicate and present ideas clearly, work well with Microsoft Office tools, and be comfortable using industry software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape, Lumion, SketchUp, CET, InDesign, ProCore, and Bluebeam. The role also calls for a solid understanding of interior finishes, furniture, building codes, construction processes, branded retail environments, digital marketing, environmental graphics, space planning, material selection, and colour theory.

Education and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a closely related discipline is required.
- 0 to 3 years of professional experience in commercial interior design is preferred.
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape, Lumion, and InDesign is an advantage.
- Intern status with ARIDO or an equivalent certification will be favored.
- A valid G driver’s licence is required because rental cars may be needed.
