MEP QA/QC Engineer - Off Role

Role Overview

Join Blue Star, India's premier air conditioning and commercial refrigeration company with a vast presence including 35 offices and multiple manufacturing units, as a MEP QA/QC Engineer working off-role in Chennai. This position is focused on ensuring the quality standards of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within commercial and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and oversee quality assurance and quality control procedures across all MEP operations.
• Review approved technical documents including drawings, specifications, method statements, and Inspection & Test Plans to ensure compliance.
• Conduct scheduled inspections covering HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting installations.
• Manage the lifecycle of inspection requests and non-conformance reports from initiation to resolution.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and onsite teams to address and resolve quality-related challenges.
• Verify that all materials received on site meet the approved technical requirements and standards.
• Supervise MEP installation activities to confirm adherence to shop drawings and defined quality standards.
• Prepare requisite QA/QC documentation including inspection reports, checklists, material approval records, and related quality records.
• Engage actively in internal and client quality audits to ensure continual compliance.
• Support functional testing, system commissioning, and project handover procedures.
• Ensure adherence to project-specific quality plans along with ISO and safety standards.

Candidate Profile

• Degree (B.E./B.Tech) or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience ranging from 2 to 8 years specializing in MEP QA/QC within commercial, industrial, data center, hospital, or infrastructure projects.
• Solid understanding of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting systems and their standards.
• Proven expertise in QA/QC documentation, inspections, use of ITPs, method statement preparation, and nonconformance report management.
• Knowledgeable about Indian Standards (IS), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and relevant project quality standards.
