About the Team
The University of Otago Wellington (UOW) is a specialized campus of the University of Otago offering a wide array of undergraduate and postgraduate health sciences programs. UOW researchers are instrumental in advancing health knowledge, enhancing health outcomes, and influencing health policies regionally and globally.
Role Overview
The Wellington Medical & Health Sciences Library is recruiting a permanent, full-time Reference Librarian. This role supports teaching, learning, and research for UOW staff and students, as well as providing contracted library services to hospital personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver library teaching sessions for both UOW and hospital clients, utilizing face-to-face and online formats.
- Offer research support services to university staff, students, and hospital employees.
- Conduct comprehensive literature searches to assist various scholarly activities.
- Timely and effective management of complex information inquiries.
Required Skills and Experience
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities capable of engaging with a diverse academic, student, and health professional clientele.
- A tertiary qualification in Library and Information Studies or an equivalent credential.
- Demonstrated experience delivering library information and research services.
- Proven track record in creating and delivering effective client education and training.
- Familiarity with academic or research library databases and information resources.
Additional Details
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week) located in Wellington. The salary range is NZD 75,631 to 80,503 with a top range of NZD 88,750. Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand. Applications close on Sunday, 2 August 2026, and may be reviewed upon receipt.
