About the IT Role
Rocket Lab's IT team manages company-wide information access across systems, networks, and devices supporting teams ranging from finance to launch operations. This role is for a dynamic IT Project Manager based in Auckland to lead the implementation of a new payroll system (ADP) across the region, part of a high-impact 12-month fixed-term contract. The manager will oversee full end-to-end delivery of this strategic payroll program and related enterprise initiatives enhancing the organization's digital capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the deployment of a company-wide ADP payroll system to enhance accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Develop detailed project charters, schedules, resource allocations, and risk assessments.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within scope, and budget.
- Guide diverse cross-functional teams to fulfill project objectives.
- Continuously monitor project progress, identify risks, and execute mitigation plans.
- Coordinate internal resources and manage third-party vendors.
- Maintain strong stakeholder engagement and provide executive-level communications.
- Manage any scope changes with proper verification and change control processes.
- Utilize project management tools such as Smartsheet, MS Project, Confluence, and JIRA for tracking and reporting.
- Maintain risk management protocols and RAID logs.
Candidate Qualifications
- Minimum of eight years' experience managing projects, with a focus on large-scale enterprise system implementations.
- Proven track record with ADP or similar payroll system rollouts.
- Strong leadership skills and expertise in organizational change management.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 12+ years of relevant professional experience.
Preferred Skills
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applicable to complex projects.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in fast-paced settings.
- Project management certifications such as PMP is advantageous.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing sectors.
- Knowledge in enterprise project and program management.
- Familiarity with various project methodologies including Waterfall, Agile, and hybrid approaches.
Work Environment & Additional Information
This job may necessitate extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking, focused computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes prevalent in production environments.
