Role Overview

Thiess is recruiting a Serviceperson for a permanent position at the Olive Downs Complex coal mining project located 80 km southeast of Moranbah, Queensland. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role involves contributing to high-quality maintenance services for heavy earthmoving equipment in an environment supporting full-service mining operations including mine planning, overburden removal, autonomous load and haul, and mine infrastructure construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform servicing on heavy earthmoving machinery to ensure operational reliability.
• Carry out refuelling tasks safely and efficiently.
• Provide assistance to fitters during maintenance and repair activities as needed.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping within workshop and site areas.
• Complete general workshop responsibilities to support maintenance workflow.

Employment Details and Benefits

Candidate Requirements

• Experience working as a serviceperson within an open cut coal mining environment.
• Possession of Standard 11 qualification.
• Completion of R11SAM212E - Service Mine Plant and Equipment Statement of Achievement.
• Valid driver's licence, preferably heavy vehicle (HR) licence.
• Competency in servicing mine plant and machinery.
• Demonstrated background in mining, heavy earthmoving, or hydraulic excavator sectors.
• Strong commitment to maintaining a positive safety culture.
• Additional desirable certifications include working at heights, elevated work platform (EWP), forklift operation (high risk), confined space entry, and Franna crane operation tickets.

Additional Information

The Olive Downs mining operation started mid-2023 at a greenfield site. The camp location supports easy transport arrangements to and from the site. Thiess enforces pre-employment checks including employment references, National Police Check, and medical assessments in alignment with the Strong & Sustainable Resource Communities Act 2017.
