Role Overview
This position involves in-depth involvement with manufacturing technologies spanning plastics, sheet metal, casting, injection molding, forging, and fabrication processes. It requires familiarity with mirror and optics design alongside costing. Candidates will also need expertise in the costing processes associated with PCB, PCBA, harness, and sensors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop proficiency in cost evaluation of heat and surface treatment technologies.
- Identify and recommend alternative manufacturing technologies and materials to optimize production.
- Enhance manufacturing efficiency by optimizing process techniques.
- Apply strong skills in Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) and benchmarking.
- Understand conventional and CNC machinery, manufacturing methods, and associated time estimations.
- Use product estimation and costing tools such as DFMA, Costimator, SEER Galorath, and aPriori where applicable.
- Conduct should costing and design-to-cost analyses for both New Product Introductions (NPI) and legacy products.
- Suggest and implement improvements to enhance cost competitiveness.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
- Possesses between 5 to 8 years of shop floor experience specifically in process management and practical should costing engineering.
- Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
- Capable of functioning independently as well as collaboratively within teams.
- Effective communicator with proficiency in both written and verbal forms.
- Direct experience as a dedicated should costing engineer is preferred but not mandatory.
