Role Overview
We are seeking a Backend Developer Intern to join our team and contribute to impactful projects while learning from skilled engineers. This position offers the flexibility to work fully remotely or from the Toronto office, supporting a healthy work-life balance through flexible scheduling.
Responsibilities
- Develop production-ready backend features collaboratively with the team.
- Engage in planning sessions, define project scopes, and help specify feature requirements.
- Learn performance optimization, unit testing, and debug complex, high-traffic systems.
- Utilize advanced backend technologies and methodologies.
- Receive mentorship from seasoned software developers.
Candidate Profile
- Current student in Computer Science, Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering.
- Programming proficiency in Golang, Java, C#, Node.js/JavaScript with TypeScript, or Python.
- Experience deploying code on Linux-based systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, or Heroku.
- Understanding of software release processes, including code review, merging, and deployment on cloud or data center infrastructures, with attention to high system stability.
- Interest or experience working with databases.
- Strong eagerness to enhance software development skills.
- Curious, thoughtful, and pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
- Motivated to contribute positively to both intellectual work environments and environmental sustainability.

Work Environment and Policies
