Role Overview

As a Software Engineer at Column, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining the core systems that support everything from the payments infrastructure to developer tools and foundational platform services. This position is ideal for individuals with a passion for infrastructure, software engineering, and financial technology. You will own critical components of infrastructure that handle billions in daily transactions, shaping the technical landscape of the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain essential infrastructure components including compute, storage, networking, security, and observability systems.
• Manage core banking infrastructure, including direct integrations with the Federal Reserve and real-time payment networks.
• Design and implement continuous integration and deployment pipelines, developer tooling, and release workflows.
• Enhance system reliability and uptime through advanced monitoring, automated testing, and operational improvements.
• Lead major platform efforts such as authentication/authorization, change data capture, and cross-cutting API development.
• Fine-tune system performance, reliability, and accuracy at a low level close to the hardware.
• Maintain rigorous system safety standards within a strictly regulated, mission-critical environment.

Compensation

Compensation packages include a base salary, equity shares, and a comprehensive benefits suite. Salary offers depend on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. The expected annual salary range for this role in the US is $130,000 to $250,000 plus equity.
