Role Overview
We seek a well-rounded Stores / Warehouse Assistant with forklift driving capabilities to join our team in Portlaoise, County Laois. This position requires hands-on experience managing a high volume of diverse parts, ideally with a background in motor trade or manufacturing. The role involves inventory handling, stock organization, customer communication, and general maintenance duties within the factory.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage incoming and outgoing parts efficiently, encompassing items such as axles, wheels, and bolts.
- Operate a forklift for loading and unloading duties while ensuring paperwork is handled promptly and accurately.
- Lift heavy items safely following established health and safety guidelines.
- Engage with customers to understand technical requirements of parts, organizing documentation and shipping accordingly.
- Conduct stock counts and apply effective stock organization techniques.
- Utilize software tools to allocate inventory and project future stock needs.
- Optimize the arrangement of the stores to enhance efficiency, especially for assembly bay picking.
- Perform general maintenance tasks within the factory including repairing fans, doors, and cleaning floors.
- Participate in provided training to enhance role effectiveness.
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in stores or parts management, particularly in motor trade or manufacturing environments.
- Forklift driving competence and valid license.
- Strong organizational abilities with experience in stock control and inventory forecasting.
- Capability to understand technical specifications relating to parts and communicate effectively with customers.
- Physically able to lift heavy objects adhering to health and safety standards.
