NEEW Ventures is the venture builder of EEW – Energy from Waste. Since 2021, the team has been focused on creating a future where resources are used without limits by applying technology to the waste and circular economy space. The group combines an agile validation approach, corporate backing, and strong sector knowledge to develop new ventures and innovations.

This Berlin-based role is suited to someone who is excited by digital innovation and by spotting new business opportunities that can move the waste industry forward.

Role overview

As Venture Development Manager, you will turn early opportunities into well-defined ventures. The work involves studying market direction, uncovering new spaces for growth, and building business models around how technology and AI can reshape waste treatment, energy recovery, and decarbonisation across the circular economy.

You will steer venture streams through a structured, agile validation process and stay hands-on from the first idea through to a validated, investment-ready proposition. Depending on the venture’s direction, the result may become a new business unit inside EEW or develop into a standalone company.

In this position, you will work closely with EEW and other industry partners, combining the stability and expertise of a large industrial organisation with the pace and flexibility of a startup environment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out systematic market research to spot trends and identify promising business opportunities, especially within energy and waste treatment.
• Own a venture stream and guide early-stage ideas into business models that are tested and commercially viable.
• Manage the full venture development cycle from a business standpoint, including scope, timelines, and key decision points.
• Present insights clearly through reports and presentations for internal teams and EEW stakeholders.
• Turn concepts into persuasive pitch decks that communicate findings and recommendations in a structured way.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate brings at least 3 years of experience in a fast-moving environment, preferably in a startup or venture-building setting. Experience in energy, waste treatment, or carbon management is considered a major advantage.

You should be comfortable working in agile teams, handling complex setups, and managing several projects at once. Because the work involves innovation, you should be at ease with ambiguity and situations where not everything is defined from the start.

We are looking for someone who is curious, creative, and eager to keep learning about new markets, technology trends, startup activity, and unfamiliar topics. A practical mindset is important too: you should be willing to build quick prototypes or learn new tools and skills from scratch to test ideas.

English fluency is required, along with German at B2 level or higher.
