Apartment Building Maintenance Worker

Overview

This role involves maintaining and servicing apartment or condominium complexes in West Kelowna, British Columbia, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and functional utility systems within residential settings. The position requires on-site presence with no remote work option.

Languages and Education

• Proficiency in English is required.
• Applicants should have completed a college, CEGEP, or equivalent diploma/certificate program lasting between three months and less than a year, or possess comparable experience.

Experience

Candidates must have between two to three years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing floors, hallways, and stairs.
• Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove debris and dirt.
• Empty trash receptacles and other waste containers.
• Wash windows, interior walls, and ceilings.
• Make minor repairs and adjustments to HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems; coordinate with trade professionals for more complex repairs.
• Arrange for contractor repairs and maintenance as needed.
• Perform minor appliance repairs.
• Carry out regular safety and security inspections.
• Show apartments and offices to potential tenants.
• Relocate heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.
• Engage in routine maintenance tasks such as painting and drywall repairs.
• Water and care for plants, lawns, and gardens.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms and fixtures.
• Operate with minimal oversight.
• Clear snow and ice from walkways and parking areas during appropriate seasons.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Roles are physically demanding, involving repetitive motions and occasional pressure-filled tasks.
• Positions require lifting and handling loads up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
• Tasks may require bending, crouching, and kneeling.
• Employees should have their own tools for the job.
