Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Position Overview

We are seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor with up to two years of experience to join a leading Main Building Contractor in Ireland for a prominent pharmaceutical project located in Athlone. The client has experienced significant growth over the past five years while maintaining a supportive work environment with long-standing surveyor staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring all project stakeholders fully understand and comply with contract obligations.
• Support the preparation of financial forecasts and valuations for contract control meetings.
• Collaborate with various departments to establish and maintain controls during contract progression.
• Help prepare, submit, and negotiate interim valuations alongside client representatives.
• Contribute to the preparation of final accounts for contracts.
• Assist with the placement and management of supplier agreements and sub-contracts.
• Ensure prompt action on instructions from client's representatives and strict adherence to contractual responsibilities.
• Assist in protecting the company's interests by ensuring contractual compliance.
• Support senior management in compiling contractual claims.
• Provide Commercial Manager and Senior Quantity Surveyor with relevant data for monthly and quarterly cash flow monitoring.
• Alert senior management to any commercial or operational issues that could impact company performance.

Requirements

• Up to two years of work experience, preferably within a main contractor or construction consultancy setting.
• Possession of a relevant third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying.
