Job Purpose
The Associate Manager - Civil is responsible for executing civil engineering activities related to Boiler, Turbine, Generator (BTG), and Balance of Plant (BoP) systems. The role involves ensuring compliance with project specifications and timelines, preparing detailed project documents, conducting technical evaluations, and collaborating closely with teams to resolve technical issues while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead PECM civil activities for BTG and BoP components.
- Assist in creating detailed project plans and Level 2 and 3 schedules, coordinating alignment with project objectives.
- Participate and contribute in project kick-off meetings, communicating goals and expectations clearly to stakeholders.
- Distribute project plans to OEMs and site teams for approval and coordination.
- Support team lead in managing project activities and provide insights on schedules.
- Utilize data analytics tools for civil project management and implement digitization initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to prepare civil technical specifications and provide support during execution to address technical queries.
- Ensure all specifications meet project needs, industry standards, and regulatory norms.
- Evaluate vendor proposals during selection and qualification processes; coordinate deliveries and resolve vendor-related technical issues.
- Conduct vendor kick-off meetings, aligning schedules and requirements.
- Work closely with CQA for quality assurance, conducting inspections and audits to ensure standards and safety compliance.
- Provide on-site technical support, monitor project timelines and budgets, and engage with sub-vendors to ensure timely progress.
- Support cost control by assisting in budget estimates, monitoring expenditures, preparing cash flow reports, and ensuring timely vendor payments.
- Manage project documentation including specifications, BoQs, progress updates, contract compliance, and prepare project closeout and learning reports in coordination with cross-functional teams.
Stakeholder Interaction
Internal coordination occurs with techno-commercial, engineering, quality assurance, safety, project execution, finance, and HR teams. External interfaces include vendors, sub-vendors, and consultants.
Educational and Professional Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) is mandatory; an MBA degree is an advantage.
- Minimum of six years’ experience managing civil engineering projects, especially those involving Boiler, Turbine, and Generator (BTG) and Balance of Plant (BoP) systems.
- Preference for candidates with experience in power generation, thermal power plants, or large industrial sectors, demonstrating strong project management, civil engineering expertise, and regulatory knowledge within energy or industrial contexts.
