About the Role and Company
BAE Systems Digital Intelligence employs 4,500 experts across digital, cyber, and intelligence disciplines, working collaboratively in 10 countries to analyze and understand complex data. They empower governments, armed forces, and businesses to gain decisive digital advantages in challenging environments. This position is for an Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS) Engineer based in Alton, New Zealand, with additional locations possible in Guildford and London Southbank in the UK. The role is onsite with an average of three days per week working at the office, with some flexibility for remote work depending on project phases.
Role Overview
The incumbent will engage in the entire development lifecycle of AOCS subsystems for small satellite missions, encompassing concept design, requirements gathering, integration, verification, and early mission operations. The position involves collaboration across multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure subsystem performance, technical consistency, and achievement of mission goals.
Besides project delivery, there is scope to participate in other activities such as space technology development, space mission conceptual studies, research and development initiatives, and providing technical assistance for bid proposals.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated experience in developing AOCS systems specifically for small satellite missions
- Ability to translate client requirements into detailed system specifications and successfully design and implement AOCS subsystems
- Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance, including meeting residency requirements and passing necessary vetting standards
