Role Overview
- Seeking an expert Senior Cloud Engineer proficient in software engineering and DevOps, who will spearhead the automation of cloud infrastructure, specifically focusing on Azure Cloud Landing Zones.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, deploy, and sustain scalable and efficient cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure.
- Lead cloud infrastructure automation projects.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to instill best practices in software development, quality assurance, and automation.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to development groups, emphasizing DevOps and automation techniques.
- Design and deploy cloud applications leveraging serverless computing, Kubernetes orchestration, and event-driven design patterns.
- Create and manage continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using GitOps principles.
- Incorporate security best practices for authentication and authorization frameworks.
- Monitor and enhance application performance, scalability, and dependability within the cloud ecosystem.
- Keep abreast of emerging cloud technologies and incorporate innovative tools and frameworks as appropriate.
- Ensure software solutions fulfill both functional and non-functional requirements while conforming to established design, testing, and security standards.
- Promote continuous learning by conducting knowledge sharing sessions and code reviews, and nurturing junior talent.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a Cloud Engineer, especially focused on Azure cloud services.
- Strong foundation in software development and implementing DevOps methodologies.
- Expertise in automating Azure infrastructure components.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Golang, or JavaScript.
- Hands-on experience with serverless architectures, Kubernetes platforms, and event-driven system patterns.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps tools and workflows.
- Comprehensive understanding of cloud security protocols and best practices.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to collaborate effectively within teams.
- Superior communication skills capable of explaining complex technologies to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing and implementing No-SQL databases such as DynamoDB.
- Proven leadership in mentoring and guiding development teams.
- Strong background in software architecture, testing, and cloud technology integration.
- Expertise in enforcing quality gates, including code reviews, pair programming, and team reviews.
- Knowledge of code management and deployment practices including Monorepo and Multirepo strategies.
- Solid grasp of functional programming concepts such as list/map/reduce/compose and monads.
- Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), and principles like DRY, KISS, SOLID.
- Experience managing security protocols including ABAC, RBAC, JWT, SAML, Azure Active Directory, and OIDC.
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures involving queues, streams, batches, and pub/sub systems.
- Advanced knowledge of scalability, concurrency, and distributed systems architectures.
- Experience with cloud networking and proxy configurations.
- Proficiency with CI/CD workflows, GitFlow branching model, and GitOps frameworks such as Flux and ArgoCD.
- Expertise in multiple programming languages, particularly Python, TypeScript, and GoLang.
- Experience operating Kubernetes clusters from a developer perspective, including working with custom resource definitions, operators, and controllers.
- Background in building serverless cloud-based applications.
- Strong team collaboration skills in fast-paced environments.
- Proficient with version control systems like GitHub for code review and collaborative development.
- Experience working in agile development teams and sprint cycles.
- Knowledge of front-end technologies such as React, Hooks, and TypeScript is advantageous.
- Deep expertise in Azure cloud services with some knowledge of AWS a bonus.
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure with Crossplane.io is beneficial.
- Equivalent knowledge to AWS/Azure Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional certification is desirable.
