Overview
We are hiring an experienced Business Intelligence Analyst for a data and analytics team within a major insurance business. The role sits in a highly data-focused environment where you will turn business needs into practical reporting and analytics solutions that support better decisions across the organisation.
This position involves partnering with stakeholders and technical teams to design, build, and improve BI outputs that are useful, reliable, and easy to interpret. You will be involved throughout the BI lifecycle, from understanding requirements and analysing data to developing dashboards, strengthening data quality, and driving ongoing improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, update, and support business intelligence reports, dashboards, and analytical tools.
- Review large and complex datasets to uncover patterns, opportunities, and actionable insights.
- Work with teams in underwriting, claims, operations, finance, and corporate functions.
- Convert business needs into reporting solutions that can scale effectively.
- Design data visualisations that present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to better data quality, governance practices, and reporting standards.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, Developers, and Product teams to deliver BI capabilities.
- Investigate data problems and identify the underlying causes.
- Support organisation-wide transformation efforts that rely on data.
- Encourage strong practices in reporting, analytics, and self-service BI.
Skills and Experience Required
Successful candidates should have prior experience in a BI Analyst, Data Analyst, or comparable role, along with strong SQL ability for extracting and working with data. Hands-on experience creating dashboards and reports in BI platforms, especially Power BI, is important. You should also understand data modelling, reporting design, and core analytics concepts.
The role requires experience working with business stakeholders to gather requirements, strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and the confidence to explain complex data findings in a clear way.
Preferred Background
Experience in insurance, financial services, or another regulated industry would be beneficial. Familiarity with the London Market or Lloyd’s insurance environment is also an advantage, as is exposure to data warehouses, enterprise data platforms, Azure data technologies, or the Microsoft data stack. Knowledge of Agile delivery, SDLC processes, data governance, and data quality frameworks would be useful.
