About the Role
The Chief Engineering role involves overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations at Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts’ Lusail location. Responsibilities include managing the upkeep of the building, grounds, and physical assets with a strong focus on safety, security, and asset protection. The role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, handles budgeting and capital expenditure projects, and promotes energy conservation. Additionally, the Chief Engineer supports emergency response leadership for facility-related incidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the physical plant encompassing equipment such as refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
- Guarantee adherence to all facility regulations and safety standards.
- Oversee and optimize energy usage including heat, light, and power, implementing cost-effective conservation methods.
- Develop service contract specifications and administer contracts to meet building requirements.
- Assign and monitor preventive maintenance and repair work orders ensuring quality and timely completion.
- Supervise maintenance of grounds, guest rooms, public spaces, restaurants, property vehicles, and recreational amenities.
- Create and execute long-term plans for preventive maintenance and asset protection.
- Plan and supervise construction or renovation projects, managing contractor bids, schedules, and budgets.
- Cultivate positive relationships with city departments, fire prevention bureaus, and vendors.
- Ensure the fire response team is fully trained on equipment and procedures.
- Conduct monthly property inspections and periodic guest room and common area evaluations to maintain facility standards and guest satisfaction.
- Evaluate physical facility conditions to determine necessary repairs, renovations, or replacement of furnishings and equipment.
- Manage selection, procurement, and inventory of equipment, supplies, and parts.
- Maintain all required building licenses and equipment certifications.
- Oversee life safety systems including fire-fighting equipment, sprinkler systems, and alarms.
- Lead by example in delivering exceptional guest service, working closely with property leadership to address feedback and enhance guest satisfaction continuously.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with at least 3 years of relevant experience in engineering, maintenance, or a related field supported by technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing.
- Alternatively, a 2-year degree in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related discipline with a minimum of 1 year relevant experience and technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, or plumbing.
