Role Overview

The Cleaner position at Dollar Tree Stores is a full-time on-site role based at the Olive Branch, Mississippi distribution center. The job centers on keeping facility areas clean, orderly, safe, and compliant while supporting day-to-day operations across the site.

Essential Functions

• Keep the building and facility spaces clean and well maintained, including carrying out intensive cleaning across different surfaces in the distribution center.
• Alert management when minor repairs or larger building-system fixes are needed.
• Build and maintain productive working relationships with DC associates, leaders, coworkers, and vendors.
• Follow company and regulatory standards for safety, security, quality, and compliance at all times.
• Remain adaptable and willing to take on any other assigned tasks.

Core Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors to maintain cleanliness.
• Use chemical cleaning products and powered equipment according to established procedures to avoid damage to floors and fixtures.
• Dust and wash furniture, walls, machinery, ceilings, equipment, and other surfaces, sometimes using ladders or powered tools.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment so cleaning can be completed in work areas.
• Remove stains from walls, floors, and equipment using approved cleaning agents and solutions.
• Mix and handle cleaning chemicals safely and correctly in line with manufacturer and company guidelines.
• Clear debris, empty trash and cardboard containers, and sweep floors.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Clean interior glass, windows, partitions, and mirrors using appropriate tools and cleaners.
• Use insecticides and fumigants as needed to help prevent insect and rodent issues.
• Keep the supply closet organized and ensure cleaning equipment remains in good working condition.
• Request cleaning supplies and equipment when needed.
• Monitor building security and safety, including locking doors after hours and checking appliance use when necessary to avoid hazards.
• Operate floor-scrubbing machines, cardboard balers, and other janitorial stations and equipment.
• Apply OSHA and local safety requirements to all assigned tasks.
• Identify unsafe conditions and correct them with management oversight.
• Attend required classroom and virtual training sessions.
• Follow company safety and risk-management policies and procedures.
• Report accidents and injuries promptly.
• Take part in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
• Carry out all work using established safety practices.
• If required, drive vans, industrial trucks, or similar vehicles and operate industrial vacuum cleaners to complete cleaning work or travel between work areas.
• Work around powered equipment, at heights, and in tight spaces.
• Carry out basic repairs when needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to work at heights and in confined areas.
• Physical capability to sit, use hands, reach, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate effectively as required by the role.
• Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to remain on feet for most of the day and walk several miles daily.
• Good visual ability, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
