Role Overview
As an Azure Cloud Engineer based in Auckland, you will be accountable for managing and supporting clients' Azure cloud environments, advancing cloud transformation and optimization initiatives. This hands-on, client-facing position requires acting as a trusted advisor, promoting automation and DevOps/DevSecOps best practices, safeguarding secure and efficient operational environments, bridging applications and support teams, and enabling customers with modern workflows. The role involves onsite presence and participation in an on-call after-hours support roster.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide trusted guidance on cloud technologies and solutions.
- Encourage and lead clients in adopting cloud benefits, automation, and a DevOps/DevSecOps mindset.
- Maintain secure and optimized Azure cloud environments for customers.
- Serve as a liaison connecting application technologies with support groups.
- Deliver enablement and support to client teams.
Candidate Profile
- Strong enthusiasm for cloud transformation, automation, and resolving customer issues.
- Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities with an understanding of cloud business advantages.
- Proactive issue ownership and collaboration to achieve solutions.
- Preferably certified in Azure technologies (e.g., AZ400, AZ104, AZ204, AZ500).
- Experience in architecting, building, deploying, and managing Azure IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform, ARM Templates, Bicep, and PowerShell.
- Knowledge of hybrid and multi-cloud architectures, covering multi-region resilience, security, and scalability.
- Expertise in tenancy/account organization, landing zones, policies, tagging, and cost management.
- Hands-on with VMs, Azure Functions/serverless computing, storage, backup, OS and database security hardening.
- Understanding of Azure network and security components including IAM, security groups, virtual networks, load balancers, web application firewalls, and DNS.
- Competence in monitoring, logging, and alerting configurations.
- Experience with cloud-native and digital technologies such as containers, serverless, data platforms, machine learning, AI, IoT, APIs, and microservices.
- Strong proficiency with core Azure services including Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts, Azure Active Directory, Networking, App Services, and Security.
