Role Overview

Joining the Auckland-based Fabrication and Machining team, you will take a leadership role by leveraging your expertise in manual and CNC machining. Your responsibilities will include programming and operating CNC machines to fabricate precision aerospace parts for launch vehicles, satellites, and R&D projects. Your work will support prototype development and production of mission-critical hardware, ensuring outstanding quality and reliability in every component.

Key Responsibilities

• Machine parts following precise drawing specifications on a daily basis.
• Operate and perform maintenance on machinery, tooling, and equipment.
• Create, simulate, and run NC program toolpaths using NX CAM software.
• Design and build custom holding fixtures when necessary.
• Conduct visual and measurement inspections abiding by GD&T standards.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and consumables to enable smooth reordering processes.

Required Qualifications

• Trade qualification in a relevant machining or manufacturing field.
• Minimum of eight years of professional experience in CNC machining and CAM programming, with preference for familiarity with NX CAM.
• Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) along with expertise using measurement instruments.
• Ability to independently handle low-volume, job-shop style machining and precision mechanical assembly tasks.
• Comfort working to extremely high quality and precision standards.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
• Computer literacy including comfort using smartphones and tablets.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience with 5-axis machining technology.
• Capability to work both collaboratively in teams and independently.
• High personal work ethic, initiative, and capacity to remain composed under pressure.
