Role overview

Townmore Construction is looking for a skilled Estimator to strengthen its growing commercial division in Tullamore, County Offaly. This is a strong opportunity for an ambitious professional with broad estimating experience across multiple construction disciplines to help deliver high-quality projects throughout Ireland.

In this position, you will help produce precise cost plans and competitive tender submissions, partnering with pre-construction, commercial, and project delivery colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Build detailed cost plans and tender packages for a wide variety of construction jobs.
• Review drawings, specifications, and contract papers to understand the scope and demands of each project.
• Source and compare pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Compile Bills of Quantities and pricing schedules when needed.
• Identify project risks and look for opportunities to improve value through engineering solutions.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors during the tendering process.
• Assist the commercial team during handover and any post-tender discussions or negotiations.
• Keep estimating files, pricing history, and market cost information accurate and up to date.

Essential requirements

• Previous experience working as a construction Estimator is required.
• Experience estimating across multiple disciplines is essential, with the ability to price work in different construction sectors.
• A solid grasp of construction techniques, materials, procurement, and sequencing is needed.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong commercial judgement and analytical thinking.
• Good organisational ability, with the capacity to handle several tenders and deadlines at once.
• Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office and estimating software.

Desirable background

• A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred.
• Experience with main contractors would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Irish construction contracts and procurement procedures is desirable.
