Key Responsibilities

  • Classify goods according to the Harmonized System (HS), Combined Nomenclature (KN), and TARIC customs tariff systems.
  • Analyze and assess technical product documents, specifications, and related product details to ensure accurate tariff classification.
  • Maintain, verify, and assure the quality of customs tariff numbers within ERP and customs management systems.
  • Collaborate closely with internal departments, especially procurement and product management, to resolve tariff-related questions.
  • Monitor legal changes in customs tariff law and guarantee that applications comply with current regulations.
  • Support customs audits, both internal and external, as well as official customs inspections.
  • Contribute to the advancement of internal control systems (IKS/ICP) and participate in projects aiming to digitize and optimize customs and foreign trade procedures.
  • Handle incoming courier notifications for sample deliveries, including customs-relevant checks and coordination of shipments.
  • Provide specialist support to internal teams regarding customs tariff matters.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Successful completion of a commercial apprenticeship, e.g., in freight forwarding and logistics services, wholesale and foreign trade, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Several years of professional experience in customs classification, tariff determination, or customs and foreign trade operations.
  • Deep knowledge of classification under HS, KN, and TARIC systems.
  • Excellent command of German and good proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Proficient use of MS Office and ideally experience with ERP and customs software.
  • Strong analytical mindset combined with an organized and independent working style.
  • Team player exhibiting communication skills and a practical, proactive approach.
