Position Overview
We are seeking a Delivery Director to lead a strategic and critical program within the banking sector on a 12-month contract based in Dublin. The role involves overseeing end-to-end delivery with 2-3 days per week onsite presence and managing client relationships at a governance level.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct a high-impact banking program throughout all phases, ensuring successful delivery.
- Manage and nurture client expectations and act as the delivery representative in governance forums.
- Coordinate multiple workstreams and stakeholders, combining finance, sourcing, implementation, and business outcomes seamlessly.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product owners, architects, engineers, and QA to produce accurate estimates and delivery plans.
- Identify, assess, and proactively manage engagement risks, escalating critical issues timely.
- Drive business development activities for both existing clients and prospective new engagements by uncovering new opportunities.
- Lead presales efforts by preparing proposals, defining implementation approaches, and presenting solution architectures and statements of work.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Over 10 years of experience in banking and financial services, with 3-5 years focused on mobile or digital banking platforms.
- In-depth knowledge of banking regulations and security compliance standards such as PSD2, GDPR, and PCI-DSS relevant to mobile financial apps.
- Experience working with open banking APIs, payment solutions, and mobile wallet integrations.
- Strong expertise in Software Development Life Cycle methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall frameworks.
- Proven ability to manage complex IT project deliveries and client stakeholders effectively.
- Ability to cultivate strong client relationships and work efficiently within dynamic, geographically-distributed teams under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication, presentation, planning, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Expertise in Agile practices and iterative delivery techniques for scalable solution building.
- Technical knowledge to guide engineering decisions and delivery practices to ensure project success.
- Capability to simultaneously manage multiple complex projects across distributed teams.
- Experience mentoring delivery managers, scrum masters, and agile coaches, fostering psychological safety and continuous learning.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Familiarity with advanced mobile technologies, including cross-platform frameworks like React Native, Flutter, and Kotlin Multiplatform.
- Experience advising on native versus hybrid mobile architectures and developing progressive web apps for banking.
- Knowledge of mobile edge computing, offline-first design, and wearable banking integrations.
- Understanding of inclusive mobile accessibility standards and design principles.
- Background in fintech innovations such as neobanks, challenger banks, embedded finance, and blockchain applications.
- Expertise in cloud-native architectures, serverless platforms (AWS Amplify, Firebase, Azure Mobile Apps), microservices, event-driven systems, and container orchestration.
- Proficiency in advanced Agile and DevOps methodologies, including continuous deployment, feature flagging, canary releases, Lean UX, and outcome-driven delivery.
- Familiarity with organizational frameworks like Team Topologies and platform engineering to optimize developer experience.
- Holder of relevant industry certifications such as SAFe SPC/Agilist, PMP, Prince2, Scrum Master/Product Owner certifications, cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP), and mobile developer certifications.
