Department Manager

About the Role

Join Jeyarama Group, a prominent retail company operating hypermarkets, supermarkets, and malls across Kerala and Tamil Nadu, with a turnover of 2000 crores and a workforce of 8000 employees. We are seeking a Department Manager based in Chennai to oversee daily operations of a department, ensuring efficient sales performance and high customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive sales to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets for the assigned department or section.
• Maintain active presence on the sales floor during peak periods to engage customers and boost conversion rates.
• Promptly manage and resolve customer complaints on the floor to uphold service excellence.
• Monitor inventory levels and conduct stock audits to track merchandise movement and reduce shrinkage.
• Ensure strict compliance with visual merchandising standards including product display, pricing accuracy, and cleanliness.
• Plan staff shifts, weekly offs, and manage floor deployment effectively during busy hours and festivals.
• Lead daily morning briefings to communicate targets, promotions, and key focus areas to the sales team.
• Train and mentor new and junior staff in product knowledge, upselling, customer handling, and store discipline.
• Coordinate with billing counters during busy times for smooth and fast checkout processes.
• Enforce store SOPs related to opening and closing, hygiene, and loss prevention methods.

Candidate Profile

• 3 to 7 years of experience in retail store operations or floor management, preferably in textiles, apparel, departmental, or hypermarket stores.
• Graduate in any discipline or Diploma in Retail Management.
• Fluent in Tamil (mandatory) with working knowledge of English.
• Energetic with a strong floor presence and excellent conflict resolution abilities.
• Capable of leading a large team and flexible to work during retail hours including weekends and peak festival periods.

Additional Details

• Salary Range: ₹350,000 to ₹700,000 per annum.
• Position located in Chennai, India.
• Eligibility: Open to any graduate.
