Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and implement engaging, student-centred ESL lessons targeting adult international learners.
• Deliver comprehensive language instruction covering speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
• Foster a welcoming and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages and motivates students.
• Utilize project-based learning (PBL) methodologies to facilitate meaningful and practical language acquisition.
• Integrate technology as a dynamic tool to enhance lessons and student involvement.
• Relate classroom content to authentic, everyday communication situations.
• Evaluate student progress through portfolios, in-class performance, and continuous formative assessments.
• Offer personalized, timely, and constructive feedback to nurture learning and development.
• Track student attendance and maintain thorough records of progress and assessments.
• Prepare instructional materials consistent with the school’s curriculum and available resources.
• Engage actively in faculty meetings, professional growth sessions, and school-wide events as needed.
• Collaborate with the Academic Team to promote student achievements and ongoing enhancements to the program.

Qualifications and Requirements

Mandatory:

• A bachelor's degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related discipline.
• Certification such as TESL Ontario (OCELT), TESL Canada, or an equivalent TESL/TESOL credential.
• A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and aiding adult English language learners.
• Strong skills in classroom management, interpersonal communication, and relationship-building.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) certification.
• Experience delivering Ontario Secondary School courses (OSSD).
• Previous ESL teaching experience within both Canadian and international contexts.
• Familiarity with IELTS and other standardized English proficiency exam preparations.
• Expertise in project-based learning and student-centred pedagogical approaches.
• Skill in implementing portfolio-based assessments to track student achievement.
• Competency in incorporating educational technology into teaching strategies.
• Experience working with diverse multicultural and international student populations.
