Role Overview
We invite applications for a meticulous and organized Finance Assistant to strengthen our Finance team. This position primarily supports daily transactional finance tasks with an emphasis on bank reconciliations, credit control, and premium payments. You will be instrumental in maintaining accurate records of policyholder accounts and ensuring efficient collection processes, all within established guidelines and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage incoming payments, including card transactions, bank transfers, and direct debits.
- Assist in the daily reconciliation of assigned bank accounts.
- Support credit control processes for new and renewal insurance policies.
- Communicate professionally with brokers, clients, and internal departments about account balances and payments.
- Contribute to group credit control activities and provide cover during holidays as needed.
- Handle policy cancellations and reinstatements triggered by payment issues.
- Process client refunds accurately.
- Monitor and follow up on overdue balances appropriately.
- Address disputes related to card payments and direct debits.
- Respond to client and broker inquiries via phone courteously and efficiently.
- Coordinate with third-party payment processors and banking institutions.
- Offer general administrative assistance, including document organization.
- Perform other tasks consistent with the role’s scope as required.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Prior experience in an office, administrative, or finance support role.
- Strong numerical skills with confidence handling financial data.
- Exceptional attention to detail and adherence to procedural guidelines.
- Professional and effective communication when dealing with brokers and policyholders.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general office software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within finance, credit control, or bank reconciliation environments.
- Familiarity with banking platforms, card payment systems, or SEPA direct debit processes.

Additional Information
The role offers a competitive salary between £25,500 and £27,200 annually, plus a 2% performance-based bonus. The position requires 35 hours weekly, Monday through Friday. Work location is flexible, supporting remote or hybrid setups based in Redhill, England.
