JavaScript Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a JavaScript Engineer to join SME Careers on a fully remote, contract basis. Your main duties will involve reviewing AI-generated JavaScript code and explanations or producing new ones, critically assessing their accuracy, logical coherence, and clarity to improve AI model responses. You will examine solutions for correctness, detect errors in reasoning, fact-check, compose high-quality explanations and model solutions, and rate multiple AI outputs. This role contributes directly to enhancing leading AI models through detailed, expert feedback.

Work Context

The position is hourly paid and currently has no immediate project; however, qualified candidates will be included in an expert network for future engagements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed AI training prompts and responses across various subjects to help models grasp diverse knowledge.
• Assess and rank AI-generated outputs to optimize accuracy, fluency, and relevance of the AI system.
• Test AI models for inaccuracies and biases to certify their dependability across scenarios.

Candidate Profile

• At least two years of professional JavaScript experience in production environments.
• Strong expertise in JavaScript concepts such as closures, async/await, prototype inheritance, and event loop, especially ES6 and later versions.
• Skilled at evaluating JavaScript code for correctness, readability, performance, and subtle logical or edge case issues.
• Hands-on software engineering background, including tasks like code review, mentoring, or technical discussions.
• Experience using large language models (LLMs) or AI coding assistants with a critical eye towards validating their outputs.
• Excellent English communication skills, adept at writing clear and instructional technical content.
• Proficient with at least one significant frontend framework (React, Angular, Vue.js) or backend runtime environment (Node.js with Express or NestJS).
• Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Prior exposure to AI data training, data annotation, or evaluation of AI-generated technical materials is highly advantageous. Candidates must demonstrate C1-level English skills and strong attention to detail.
• Preferred qualifications include contributions to JavaScript or TypeScript open-source projects, familiarity with bundlers and tooling (Webpack, Vite, Rollup), understanding frontend-backend integration, typed API layers, DTOs, schema-driven designs, and assessing frontend logic, asynchronous patterns, and state management.
