Role Overview
The Junior Data Analyst plays a critical role in supporting data-informed decision making and operational enhancements by processing and analyzing data, reviewing business workflows, and producing actionable recommendations that drive better efficiency, data accuracy, and program success. This position combines data analysis with business process evaluation to ensure coordinated workflows, data gathering practices, and reporting outputs that are reliable and measurable.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, verify, and analyze data from diverse sources to aid operational decisions, performance tracking, and program evaluation
- Create reports that effectively present trends, risks, and insights to audiences with varied technical backgrounds
- Set up, monitor, and update key performance indicators and benchmarks aligned with organizational goals
- Investigate and document existing business processes to spot inefficiencies, gaps, and inconsistent operations
- Assess the impact of data collection methods on process efficiency, data reliability, and reporting precision; suggest actionable improvements
- Detect missing or inconsistent data capture and workflow issues that undermine data integrity
- Convert analysis outcomes into practical recommendations including workflow standardization and data collection improvements
- Assist in creating standard operating procedures, intake protocols, and decision-making frameworks to boost consistency and effectiveness
- Conduct trend and root cause analyses to uncover systemic issues and continuous improvement opportunities
- Develop and maintain feedback mechanisms that connect data insights with operational updates and training efforts
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to collect requirements and ensure business processes, data models, and systems are aligned
- Support system enhancements by defining business and data requirements and validating tools to enable precise data capture and reporting
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S. with a minimum of three years physical residency over the past five years, able to obtain a federal government client badge, and pass a Public Trust background check
- Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Business, Education, Human Services, or a related field, or equivalent experience, plus at least one year of relevant professional experience
- Proficient in data analysis, reporting, and performance measurement techniques
- Ability to evaluate both operational processes and datasets to identify gaps and improvement areas
- Advanced skills with Excel for detailed analysis and presenting reports
- Clear and concise communication skills to explain complex findings to diverse audiences
- Strong collaboration capabilities for stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering, and documentation
- Meticulous attention to detail with emphasis on data accuracy and process correctness
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience utilizing data visualization software like Power BI or Tableau
- Competence in SQL for querying and data analysis
- Understanding of data governance, compliance, and audit support environments
- Experience participating in Agile or iterative project delivery approaches
