About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Engineer specializing in automotive cooling systems to join our Powertrain team. This role involves design and release engineering responsibilities focused on critical cooling system components including hoses, degas tanks, radiators, pumps, and valves.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and own the development and delivery of cooling system commodities such as hoses, tanks, heat exchangers, pumps, and valves.
- Collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Ensure compliance with vehicle packaging guidelines during design.
- Apply thorough knowledge of plastic and sheet metal design principles and manufacturing processes.
- Conduct benchmarking analyses to identify and propose innovative improvements.
- Maintain familiarity with Product Content Delivery System (PCDS) and key project gateways.
- Participate actively in the sourcing process for smooth supplier onboarding.
- Manage stakeholder coordination among engineering, finance, purchasing, and suppliers for bill of materials (BOM) management.
- Ensure timely release of prototypes, samples, and production data with accurate CAD, cost, and quality assurance files.
- Oversee commodity release and change management procedures.
- Develop and manage both prototype and production BOM effectively.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 6 to 8 years of automotive industry experience with specialization in cooling system commodities.
- Strong commodity ownership experience in automotive components.
- Proficient in CATIA V5 and V6 for 2D and 3D design.
- Experience with PLM tools such as TeamCenter.
- Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Fluent in MS Office Suite applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Familiarity with design and collaboration tools like VisMockup, 3Dx, RMDV, and JIRA.
Additional Details
The interview process includes profile shortlisting on-site, a technical interview, a tool test, and an HR discussion. Walk-in interviews are scheduled for Saturday, August 1st, at the Tata Technologies offices located in Bangalore at Salarpuria Supreme.
