Lifting Coordinator

Job Overview

The Lifting Coordinator will manage all lifting operations within the project, ensuring that these activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with both industry standards and company policies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Measure and identify lifting accessories such as beads, shackles, and chains, and update load schematics using AutoCAD.
• Perform precise load calculations and interpret load diagrams to guarantee safe operations.
• Supervise and coordinate lifting tasks following the approved lifting plan.
• Ensure that lifting operations involve only registered and certified crane operators, signalers, and riggers.
• Confirm that ground conditions are suitable for lifting and that crane operators conduct daily equipment checks before starting shifts.
• Brief crane operators, riggers, and signalers on safe lifting protocols and enforce their strict compliance.
• Verify the certification and maintenance inspection status of lifting machinery.
• Monitor adherence to safe lifting practices, promptly address unsafe conditions, and enforce necessary safety precautions.
• Participate in daily toolbox meetings to facilitate communication, consultation, and coordination prior to work commencement.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and the company's Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHEQ) policies.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• At least 5 years of progressive work experience in the oil and gas or civil construction sectors, demonstrating expertise in lifting operations.
• Mandatory completion of a Lifting Supervisors Safety course or an equivalent qualification.
• Possession of Appointed Person for Lifting Operations (APLO) certification as mandated by relevant regulations.
• Proven capability in load planning, selecting lifting equipment, and conducting risk assessments.
• Hands-on experience in overseeing lifting teams and managing lifting activities.
• Successful certification in recognized Rigging and Signalman training courses.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills enabling effective team management and motivation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Proficiency in load calculation software and design software such as AutoCAD.
