Job Overview

We are looking for a proactive and meticulous Capacity Manager to oversee transportation capacity planning and execution throughout North America. This position ensures efficient allocation of shipments to optimal carrier resources while meeting service commitments in a cost-effective manner. The role acts as a central liaison between carrier partners, operations personnel, and internal planners. This full-time, on-site role is based in Mississauga, Ontario, operates Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and reports directly to the Director of Capacity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the capacity team effectively.
  • Monitor daily shipment volumes and evaluate carrier availability to maximize coverage and minimize expenses.
  • Assist in load planning by securing suitable transportation capacity with contracted or preferred carriers.
  • Track and evaluate carrier performance, providing feedback to drive continuous improvements.
  • Coordinate with dispatch, terminal, and warehouse teams to meet service standards and cost objectives during load execution.
  • Address and resolve any capacity-related issues, delays, or service interruptions promptly.
  • Collaborate with senior supply chain personnel to forecast future capacity needs based on volume trends.
  • Maintain current and accurate data on capacity and carrier assignments within internal systems.
  • Deliver daily reports to internal teams regarding capacity utilization and challenges.
  • Support onboarding of new carriers ensuring compliance documentation is complete and verified.
  • Assist in preparing operational and capacity-related reports.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in logistics or transportation, preferably within a 3PL environment.
  • Knowledge of load planning, carrier sourcing, and transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and general logistics software tools.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous for coordinating cross-border operations.
  • Flexibility to work on Canadian statutory holidays to support North American business operations.
