Role Overview

The Piping Designer will be responsible for creating detailed integrated piping designs primarily for data centre liquid cooling systems. This role involves ensuring designs meet industry and client standards while collaborating with manufacturing teams to optimize designs for fabrication and installation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive piping layouts and 3D models, along with production of pdf drawings for data centre projects.
• Ensure all piping designs comply with relevant industry standards and client requirements.
• Work closely with project management, commercial teams, and other stakeholders to integrate piping systems effectively within overall project designs.
• Prepare and review documentation such as P&IDs, isometric drawings, and bills of materials.
• Support cost estimation activities and ensure the timely and budget-conscious completion of design work.

Qualifications and Experience

• Holding an HNC or degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in piping design, preferably within construction, pharmaceuticals, semiconductor, or oil & gas industries.
• Familiarity with on-site work, fabrication workshops, and installation and commissioning processes is highly advantageous.

Required Skills

• Expertise in piping design software such as Plant3D, SP3D, Revit, AutoCAD, or CADWorx.
• Understanding of manufacturing methods and quality control procedures.
• Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards applicable to piping systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
• Outstanding organizational abilities including time management, the capacity to set goals, and to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
• Capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment and coordinate with purchasing, manufacturing, engineering, and quality assurance teams.
