About the Role
As a Policy Analyst, you will be responsible for delivering practical and high-quality policy recommendations to Ministers and senior leaders. This role involves managing moderately complex policy projects from start to finish, crafting options papers that thoroughly assess costs, risks, benefits, and implementation challenges, and collaborating closely with delivery teams to ensure that implementation considerations are integrated into policy development. Working across multiple agencies and stakeholder groups, you will incorporate a wide range of perspectives into your advice.
Responsibilities
- Provide clear, actionable policy advice tailored for Ministers and senior leadership.
- Lead and coordinate moderate-complexity policy projects from initiation to completion.
- Develop comprehensive options papers evaluating financial, risk, benefit, and operational impacts.
- Collaborate with implementation teams to embed delivery strategies within policy formulation.
- Engage with cross-agency partners and diverse stakeholders to enrich policy inputs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated ability to produce concise, well-structured written advice grounded in robust policy frameworks.
- Strong research and analytical skills, including proficient use of data and literature for informed policymaking.
- Familiarity with the public sector operational environment and the Machinery of Government.
- Excellent interpersonal skills enabling constructive collaboration across varied stakeholder groups.
- Deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its influence on policy processes.
