Role Overview
The Private Credit Associate will be based in New York, NY and play a pivotal role in evaluating and executing investment opportunities in private credit markets. This role involves thorough analysis of sponsor-backed leveraged buyouts, refinancings, recapitalizations, growth financings, and other opportunistic credit scenarios.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth analysis of investment opportunities including leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, refinancings, and growth financings.
- Develop and update comprehensive three-statement operating models, debt sizing and LBO models, and downside case scenarios.
- Perform detailed credit underwriting encompassing business and industry evaluations, historical financial analysis, cash flow forecasting, capital structure assessments, recovery and covenant analysis.
- Collaborate closely with management teams, private equity sponsors, lenders, consultants, and legal advisors throughout due diligence processes.
- Compile and present investment committee memoranda and advise senior investment professionals on recommendations.
- Participate in negotiating loan agreements, covenants, pricing, and terms with borrowers and outside counsel.
- Oversee transaction execution by coordinating with investment banks, sponsors, lawyers, and other relevant financing parties.
- Manage ongoing portfolio monitoring activities including reviewing financial performance metrics, compliance certificates, amendments, and refinancing prospects.
- Assist with portfolio valuation processes and prepare quarterly reports.
- Provide mentorship to analysts and actively engage in knowledge sharing within the team.
Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in investment banking, leveraged finance, restructuring, private credit, or direct lending roles.
- Advanced skills in financial modeling and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in analyzing complex leveraged capital structures and credit documentation.
- Capability to distill extensive data into clear and concise investment recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree with notable academic achievements.
Preferred Background
- Experience with Leveraged Finance, Financial Sponsors Coverage, Mergers & Acquisitions, Restructuring, Direct Lending, Private Debt, and Credit Research.
