Overview
Amazon's India Operations team for Capex Procurement is seeking a Procurement Manager with Pan-India responsibility concentrating especially on Quick Commerce categories. This role includes independently handling multiple categories and complex projects with considerable autonomy and requires influencing multiple internal teams. The individual will define vendor capabilities, procurement strategies, and an innovation roadmap, collaborating closely with the design engineering team. Key categories include General Contractors, Cold Room, and Shelving for Quick Commerce. The procurement manager will aim to establish industry-leading procurement processes while partnering with internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze significant spend, supplier performance, and compliance data to make informed supplier and category decisions, shaping procurement strategies focused on Quick Commerce.
- Monitor market trends in assigned categories to preemptively address potential challenges.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies in cross-functional environments, ensuring alignment and buy-in from customers and suppliers for successful implementation.
- Implement cost-control mechanisms to keep supplier expenses within targets and advise business owners on purchase justification, while continuously seeking cost reduction.
- Identify suppliers suitable for long-term contracts based on their strategic value and set partnership standards accordingly.
- Set and periodically review supplier diversity and sourcing goals, expanding supplier options and raising performance expectations.
- Lead contract negotiations, commercial terms, and implementation plans while overseeing compliance and contract finalization collaborating with legal, business, operations, and suppliers.
- Operate with significant autonomy and discretion, representing and promoting the Procurement team both internally and externally.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, or related field preferred.
- 2 to 4 years’ experience in procurement, supply chain, strategic sourcing, operational planning, or supplier management required;
- Advanced degrees and 4+ years of relevant experience, particularly in Quick Commerce procurement, are preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships proactively to maximize customer value.
- Skilled in evaluating supplier performance and ensuring projects meet goals, schedules, and standards.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and program leadership skills.
- Capable of strategic and long-term planning with expertise in financial and total cost of ownership analysis.
- Demonstrates urgency, customer focus, clear communication, and collaborative attitude.
- Encourages innovation and embraces challenges to traditional approaches.
- Excellent verbal and above-average written communication skills.
- Proficient with Windows and Excel.
