Position Summary

The Procurement Specialist will oversee the entire procurement process for multiple construction and Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) projects, ensuring coordination among vendors, project managers, engineering, accounting, legal, and operations teams. This role guarantees accurate, competitive sourcing of materials and services, and timely delivery aligned with project needs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and issue purchase orders complying with project budgets, timelines, and contracts.
  • Analyze vendor quotes to confirm completeness, correct pricing, and alignment with BOMs, drawings, specifications, and project scopes before awarding.
  • Collaborate with legal to review vendor agreements, identify contractual risks, negotiate terms, and uphold company compliance standards.
  • Monitor vendor timelines related to engineering, shop drawings, procurement, fabrication, shipping, and delivery milestones.
  • Maintain frequent communication with project managers and vendors to report procurement status, progress updates, and potential risks or schedule disruptions.
  • Report regularly to Project Managers and the PM Director on procurement activities, highlighting critical tasks, scheduling impacts, and suggested corrective measures.
  • Build and nurture positive vendor relationships focused on responsiveness, quality, competitive pricing, and timely execution.
  • Assess vendor performance in areas such as quality, pricing, delivery, warranty, and overall supplier effectiveness to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify and evaluate new vendors and subcontractors, preparing assessments and recommendations for management approval.
  • Support cost-saving initiatives through competitive sourcing, value engineering, and strategic procurement, while maintaining project quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or project coordination within construction.
  • Strong background with Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB), structural steel, blast-resistant buildings, or industrial construction preferred.
  • Proficient understanding of construction drawings, BOMs, procurement workflows, and vendor management.
  • Experienced in reviewing quotations, supplier contracts, and commercial conditions.
  • Adept at interpreting architectural, structural, fabrication, and engineering blueprints.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Capability to handle multiple procurement packages and vendor schedules while maintaining detail orientation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP platforms, and project/procurement management software.
  • Experience collaborating with legal teams on contract review and risk mitigation preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, construction management, business administration, engineering, or related fields is a plus but not mandatory.
