Project Manager - Energy Storage Projects

Role Overview

This position is responsible for comprehensive management of energy storage projects across Europe, acting as the main accountable person for project execution. The Project Manager will manage schedules, budgets, quality standards, and safety protocols while coordinating internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) stations are commissioned and connected on time. This role requires mobility and is primarily site-based, suited for professionals comfortable working independently in multicultural environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead projects by managing timelines, costs, quality, and safety, and maintain strong relationships with clients and external partners to guarantee timely grid connection and project completion.
• Oversee the entire lifecycle of energy storage projects, including initial preparation, site mobilization, equipment installation, commissioning, grid connection, and final handover.
• Collaborate with departments such as R&D, procurement, production, and construction to ensure smooth project progression and address technical or coordination challenges during implementation.
• Provide technical guidance onsite, supervise equipment commissioning and acceptance processes to ensure compliance with German and EU standards like VDE and IEC.
• Manage project finances by monitoring costs, streamlining change order approvals, and controlling material use and labor expenditures.
• Identify and mitigate project risks spanning technical, compliance, and delivery aspects, developing and tracking action plans accordingly.
• Compile and organize project documentation, technical reports, and acceptance materials, conduct project reviews, and contribute insights for future project improvements.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Automation, New Energy, Mechatronics, or related fields.
• At least one year of relevant experience in energy storage or power engineering projects, with knowledge of lithium-ion and flow battery energy storage technologies and system integration.
• Fluency in both Chinese and English is essential; strong German language skills are preferred. Must demonstrate excellent cross-cultural communication and teamwork skills.
• Thorough understanding of German and EU regulations, standards (e.g., VDE, IEC, grid access codes), and project approval procedures related to energy storage.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work independently and travel extensively to project sites abroad.
• Possession of PMP certification is advantageous.
• Willingness to be stationed onsite at projects and travel as needed, committing to being physically present for project management duties.
